For those of you attending the Enterprise 2.0 Conference in San Francisco this week, there is a small change in plans for the open source search panel scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. The original title “Is Enterprise Search Ripe for Open Source Disruption?” is still relevant but it is no longer a panel discussion/debate between commercial and open source vendors (like it was in Boston).
Instead, Brian Pinkerton, Chief Architect at Lucid Imagination, and I will be talking about social media, open source, and search. Some of the things you will learn are:
- Why you should pay attention to open source search
- Enterprise opportunities
- The short list of technologies
- How search is essential to successful social media sites
- How popular social media sites are using open source products Lucene and Solr. A kind of behind-the-scenes look at these sites.
