Agree entirely. "Evergreen" upgrades are a blessing and a curse.

App Compat, User support, new features you don't want or need etc. It's why it's critical to understand vendor roadmaps. As well as how the vendor treats release management for customer. Can you opt in/out? Can you segment features for groups? Is their sandbox testing prior? How long will support for prior features occur? Do I get notified, if so, how much in advance?

All of this helps a company determine the strategy and cost impact of is it still worth it now and tomorrow.
